On Monday, December 28th, the Friendship Center was presented with a Christmas Blessing by Scheels in West Des Moines with their financial support to the MLK Community. The center would like to thank Christy C. and Scheels for their belief in our ministry, and we look forward to serving the MLK community in 2021 because of business companies like Scheels.

Free Pumpkin Pie
On Wednesday, November 25th from 2 to 4 pm, the Friendship Center will give out 100 pumpkin pies to the MLK Community. One per carload.
Food Box Giveaway
On Friday, October 30th from 12-4 pm, in partnership with Grace Church of Des Moines, the Friendship Center will be passing out 100 Food Boxes. Included in each box will be 1 Gallon of Milk, 5-6 lbs of Meat, Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, and other dairy products.
New Food Pantry Day
Starting on Wednesday, October 21st, in partnering with Eternity Church, the Friendship Center will offer another Food Pantry Day from 2 to 4 pm every Wednesday. We will still offer a food pantry day on Fridays from 12-2 pm and an evening food pantry on our Family Game Nights from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
New Church Partnership with Grace Church
The Friendship Center would like to thank Grace Church for becoming a new ministry partner in 2020. Grace has provided small groups for many of our activities and has several members who have financially supported, volunteered at, and prayed for the Friendship Center. New Ladies Community Bible Study
Starting on Thursday, October 8th, the Friendship Center will host a monthly Ladies Bible Study from 7 to 8 pm, on the 2nd Thursday of every month. Ladies, join us for a fun evening with women from the MLK neighborhood and surrounding churches as we open up God’s word, pray for each other, and share a meal. Celebrate what God has done through the Friendship Center in 2020 on Saturday, October 17th, from 5:30 to 8 pm. Enjoy a fun, casual evening with Guest Speakers, former directors of the Friendship Center, Jon and Mindy Jamison. Enjoy a silent auction with such items as a Hoverboard, signed autograph sports memorabilia from Pete Rose, and Robert Parish. Live music by Christian Artists Jordan and Jessa Anderson, food trucks, special presentations, and more all benefitting the MLK Community.
Seeking Meal Volunteers
As we begin our school year programs on Tuesday, September 8th, we need volunteers to help feed our children, teens, and adults. Meals do not need to be made at the center, can be frozen or ordered in. If interested, please email Joe at ministry@friendshipcenterdsm.org.

– Kids Club on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (The meal starts at 4 pm).
-Community Breakfast on Week 1 of every month (The meal starts at 9 am).

-Family Fun Night & Halloween Trunk-or-Treat Party on Saturday, October 24th (The meal starts at 5 pm).
Backpacks filled for 2020 Event
Here is what it looks like when every child from King Elementary could receive a backpack filled with supplies, face masks and a bible. Thank you to our Ministry Partners for allowing us to continue to serve the MLK neighborhood.
