The Friendship Center offers several services that seek to meet the physical needs of families and individuals in the community. If your family, group, or church would like to be involved, please contact the Center at ministry@friendshipcenterdsm.org.

Food Pantry

In partnership with King Elementary & Callanan Middle Schools, the Friendship Center will be hosting a Food Pantry EVERY FRIDAY from 12-2 pm, starting on September 18th!!!!
 
 
King Elementary will move its Food Pantry to the Center, and Callanan will now have a food pantry partner with the Friendship Center. We will be able to give out 1,000 lbs of food weekly to the MLK Neighborhood, King, and Callanan families. Praise God!
 

The Friendship Center offers a supplemental Food program to neighbors in the immediate area. No ID is required. Go through our Clothing Closet. Pick up Diapers and Wipes and any toiletries you need. This Institution is an Equal Opportunity Provider.

Rules:

  1. Must be 16 yrs or older to participate
  2. One member per household
  3. Staff/Volunteers will grab items off shelves for you.
  4. Sign and Date for our records.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Community Breakfast

Tuesdays mornings from 9:00 to 10:30 A.M. (September-May)

This weekly breakfast is a time for neighbors to enjoy a meal while building community with one another. Anyone is welcome to enjoy free breakfast and to pick up one sack of diapers if needed.

Volunteer Opportunity:

We need breakfast meals during the month. If you would like to volunteer to bring or prepare a meal for one of our breakfasts, please email Joe at ministry@friendshipcenterdsm.org.

Family Fun Nights

(April through December)

Last Saturday of the month. Bingo Tournament with monthly prizes starts at 4:00 pm.  Dinner is provided from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm and our Food Pantry will be open from 5:30-6:30 pm.

Volunteer Opportunity:

Churches, small groups, or other volunteers cook and serve this meal for the community.  Saturday Suppers offer an opportunity to share a meal and build relationships with the community.  A brief devotional is always shared during the dinner. The Center provides all utensils. Expect 35-50 individuals per meal.

Bingo Prizes- We need $5 gift cards and other small priced gifts for Bingo.

 

Clothes Closet

Did you know that the Friendship Center also has a clothes closet? It is open monthly during our Community Breakfast & Family Fun Nights. 

Volunteer Opportunity:

If you have gently used or new clothing items that you would like to share with the community, donations are accepted every Monday from 10 am to 6:30 pm. We currently need Men’s clothing, Winter Jackets, and shoes.
